Help investigate what the Pentagon is teaching to 500,000+ students in high school Jr. ROTC

“Fortunately for the Army, the government policy of pushing the Indians farther west and then wiping them out was carried out successfully.” (Army JROTC textbook, 2000)

Statements like the above were uncovered in the U.S. military’s JROTC textbooks when they were reviewed by a team of volunteer researchers in 2000. This year, another team of reviewers will investigate JROTC materials that are being used by the four military branches in 3400 high schools across the country. The results will be compiled and publicized to stimulate critical discussion about the program as the Pentagon seeks to expand its presence in high schools. If you would like to help read and analyze JROTC textbooks and other curriculum materials, please contact the National JROTC Textbook Analysis Project at textbookreview@projectyano.org. We are especially looking for reviewers with a teaching or academic background, or who have extensive knowledge in the areas of U.S. history, political science, social studies, civics or curriculum development.
